New Year’s Tree

The neat thing about international adoption is that, when the child becomes part of your hearts, the child’s customs and traditions become your own, in some small way.  Through adopting Kristina and Katya, our family has learned to eat dill on many things, to make and enjoy Borscht (the Ukrainian way), to eat soup for lunch, and to put up our tree for New Year’s, instead of Christmas.     It prolongs the festivities into dreary January, and is generally a real pick-me-up.
