  1. I was thinking that maybe the same kind of wheat- or rice-filled bag that can be heated in the oven would work instead of the peas? If kept in the freezer it will always be ready, and it will not go bad. My mother in law sews them herself, and she uses all kind kinds of pretty fabric. You could make Katya a polka-dot one!

      1. It probaby would. Though maybe it would feel a bit less cold too, which might be comfortable. Maybe you could make two inserts and change them as they warm up? A gel pack is probably better – I was just thinking thrifty, using what you might have on hand already :-)
